Pearl did a great job of winning the battle of controlling the things you can control: turnovers, rebounds, shot selection, defense

then they had a lot of shots fall, and all that together means you can play with anyone

Id say those white guys where unstopable in HS.
UK had guys like Chris Harrison, Cam Mills etc. Who at times looked lost as goats on a interstate, other times they would come across half court and nail 3 after 3. Harrison Avg something like 35 pts a game in HS, he got 35 mins a month a UK.

Steven Pearl wasn't unstoppable in high school...that's something you can be sure of

if his name is Steven Anythingotherthanpearl then he's a regular college student

Listen ****sucker, I didn't say he was good. Where the hell did I say anything like that? It was your dumbass comment I used to quote the player in question. When it mattered he hit a shot that helped out big time. Big whoop. He didn't have a major offer and chose to walk on at UT. He shot 4 three's and made 2. I'll take a walkon shooting 50% from 3 in every game.

BTW.. Stephen Pearl does suck. He did get 3 rebounds and other than that didn't really do anything. 1 of those was huge at the end of the game though that he took from Aldridge and got a t/o called.

UT played lights out, but to be honest theres no way they can shoot that well every game

Don't know if you saw the final statline, but they only shot 48%.

you turn things personal really quick, I even complimented your team a couple times on how they played and how Bruce Pearl coached...but a spade is a spade, and those 2 kids suck...hard

the kid who hit the shot is a little less sucky than Pearl's son, much like a dump covered in rose petals

Still, Id say he is good enough to walk on (he may have a scholarship for all I know) and prob has no aspirations to be in the NBA, sure his dad being the coach helps and even playing time is limited to exactly why he is playing now. Players missing from the team, he is prob an aspiring coach who will end up on his fathers staff like Tubbys kids (Saul may even be a coach somewhere, you wanna see something tragic, try your dad being the coach at UK and you start) I am pretty sure Pitinos kid is on his staff. Lil Pearl prob is practice material, but Id say he was a decent HS player.

I have no doubt Steven Pearl could be a good coach someday, he seemed to know the game pretty well and where people should be in certain situations...but I know some of those things too and I'd suck worse than those guys if I were out there against Kansas

people get put on rosters all the time for factors outside of whether they can play or not...for walk-ons, it's "will this kid be trouble?", "will he hustle?", "will he stay eligible?" and that's about it

VT added a kid 2 years ago who sucked worse than both Pearl and Whitey #2, Tom Amalfe, because his grandfather donated 1/3 of the money needed to build the new practice facility...after realizing just how bad he was, they had a talk and decided he should probably just concentrate on school...he then played for the JV team that I coached last year and sat the bench for that team as well...he was THAT bad

Amalfe averaged 32ppg in high school in NJ

Looks like Pearls stats in high school were 21.3 ppg, 8.8 rpg, 2.6 apg as a senior. So a pretty good player in high school.
